RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Scientists look for the origin of the universe from Argentina's Puna region

Researchers from Argentina, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States have formed the "QUBIC Project" using a cutting-edge telescope to be set up in Salta, northern Argentina.

The international group has already designed the telescope that will be able to track the trace of the "cosmic microwave background radiation" (CMB), a radiation that dates back to the moment in which the universe originated. If they succeed in capturing it, it will confirm the astrophysicists' inflationary theory on how the first moments of the universe were.

The telescope was built in parts in France, Italy, Ireland, England and Argentina. Now all the parts are being assembled in Salta. It will be installed in Altos Chorrillos, a town in the Argentine Puna located at 5,000 meters above sea level.
