First Argentine-made Quinoa drink introduced

Biba is the name of the first Quinoa-based drink developed in Argentina. It was showcased by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the CONICET and the company Babasal, the product's manufacturer.

Biba was designed by a group of researchers from CONICET research centre and the Universities of La Plata, Lanús, Quilmes and Luján.

"It is a drink that will seek to set foot in the milk-like beverage market...and this will be a big boost to Quinoa farmers in San Juan province," said Javier Basaldúa, founder of Babasal S.R.L.

The drink, made from quinoa vegetable protein, will be marketed in a one-litre Tetra pack that, unlike glass containers guarantees a preservation period of up to ten months.
