RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina remembered Maradona's historic goal 35 years later

This Tuesday at 4:09 p.m., thousands of Argentines all over the country shouted once again one of Diego Armando Maradona's historic goals: the one he scored 35 years ago to England at the 1986 World Cup.

The initiative came up as a way to pay tribute to the football legend, who died last year.

This goal was chosen as the best goal in the history of World Cups or the goal of the century by FIFA. Based on the above and taking into account that the goal will remain in the memory of the whole world and especially for all the Argentine people, the Argentine Football Association is considering declaring June 22 as the day of the Argentine Footballer.

The goal went down in history because Maradona dodged five English players (Hoddle, Reid, Butcher, Fenwick and goalkeeper Shilton), before scoring the goal in a match versus a classic rival of the Argentine National Team.
