A special broadcast of LRA36 Radio Nacional Arcangel San Gabriel took place on Saturday, September 21.

The initiative had great repercussion among the Antarctic community, as well as among listeners, diexists and radio amateurs around te world. On the frequency of 15476 khz, 19-meter band, with a Collins 1-KW transmitter, which belongs to the Argentine army, the special program was tranmitted and picked up with a very good signal in Latin America.

There were even reports confirming reception coming from Italy and Iceland. The special program was made live at 13 UTC with a repetition at 16 UTC.

On YouTube there’s "footage" of listeners picking up the broadcast. On a single weekend the email address lra36@hotmail.com received 260 emails, when the monthly average is usually no more than 10 or 12 messages.

A special electronic QSL was sent confirmng correct reception reports. Next Sunday, October 20, LRA36 will turn 40 years old, for this reason there will be different activities that will be announced on RAE broadcasts.
