First spending cuts announced

In its first 48 hours, the government of new President Javier Milei announced cuts in public spending.

In several press conferences, official spokesperson Manuel Adorni pointed out that the number of ministries was halved from 18 to 9.

The same happened with bureaus, which were cut from 106 to 54, explained Adorni, who detailed that the number of civil servants was cut by 34%.

He also informed that all the hiring that took place in the State during the last year is being reviewed.

In addition, he announced the suspension for one year of the payment to media outlets for airing or printing governmental advertisements.

Likewise, he revealed that the government will order 100% attendance of all public employees, putting an end to the possibility of remote or hybrid work.
