"Unnecessary provocation" RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Argentina to protest Cleverly trip to Malvinas

The Argentine government will formally protest against the announced visit of the British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to the Malvinas Islands.

This was announced by the Secretary for Malvinas, Antarctic and South Atlantic Affairs, Guillermo Carmona, on the social network X.

"We will be waiting for him with the formal diplomatic protests and the due repudiation," the Argentine official said.

The visit, Carmona described, is an "unnecessary provocation that defies international law".

The UK top diplomat revealed he was planning to travel to the islands on the occasion of the elections in Argentina on October 22.

For the head of the Foreign Office, Buenos Aires makes a "show of force" at election time.

Carmona regretted that instead of accepting Argentina's proposal for dialogue, Cleverly chooses to "continue compromising his country's damaged reputation on the Malvinas Question".
