Thousands march in defense of abortion rights

Thousands of people marched in Buenos Aires and in other cities of Argentina in defense of the right to abortion.

For the demonstrators, it is at risk due to the possible victory of candidate Javier Milei in the elections of next October 22.

The libertarian hopeful is against abortion and promised to call a referendum revoke it.

Yesterday's rally was attended by feminist groups and social, political, union and student movements.

Most of them wore green scarves, symbols of the struggle for the right to safe, legal and free abortion, which was approved by Congress at the end of 2020.

Since then, voluntary termination of pregnancy is allowed up to 14 weeks of gestation.

In Latin America it is legal in Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Uruguay.
